FIESTAS EN PERÚ

ESPAÑOL

GRADE LEVEL: 9 (SEMESTER 2)

OBJECTIVES

• Practice dates
• Identify cognates
• Identify new words
• Make comparisons
• Organize a celebration

MATERIALS

• Computer with access to the World Wide Web
• Worksheet

PROCEDURE

1. Give students the coordinates for locating the information: Calendario Turístico del Perú http://www.enjoyperu.com/festivitiesguide/index2.htm
2. Distribute worksheet
3. Have students write the date of their birthday (using Spanish format), locate their birth month on the Calendario Turistico, and identify the fiesta which most closely matches their birthday.
4. Have them tell in which city it is celerated.
5. Have them list the cognates.
6. Have them guess what it says in English
7. Ask them to tell whether or not we celebrate a comparable day in the U.S. and on which date we celebrate it.
