State Commission Offers Six New Language Examinations for Foreign Language TeachersRecognizing the importance of preparing students for a global society, the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (Commission) has expanded the number of language examinations for teaching credentials from 11 to 17. There are now six more languages that can be taught in California's public schools. None of this would have occurred without the hard work of the CLTA Advocacy Committee, Lorraine D'Ambruoso's leadership and the expertise of our Teacher Leaders and some of you who have labored hard to make this a reality! See the entire press release in pdf format. This is major milestone in the history of foreign language in California, and we hope that you will take a moment to send a note to Lorraine and Phyllis Jacobson acknowledging their leadership in making this possible. As you know, Phyllis is a member of the CFLP Advisory Board and so is Lorraine but her fame goes way beyond that! In any case, this is a good day for foreign language education in California, and we should celebrate it by acknowledging our colleagues who have made it all possible, and certainly feel very proud our professional membership in CLTA! Congratulations to all! In the event that you do not have Lorraine's or Phyllis' e-mail addresses they are as follows: lorda@ix.netcom.com (Lorraine) pjacobson@ctc.ca.gov (Phyllis) |
