Site-based Staff Development for World Language Teachers, ELL Teachers, and ASL Teachers

IE STARS is expanding its professional development training for world language teachers, ELL teachers, and ASL teachers with a partnership program.

- With the partnership program, a teacher trainer with the California Foreign Language Project can come to your school to provide teacher training and classroom coaching. Training may include but is not limited to the following:

- Standards-based instruction the NEW World Language Standards 2009
- Lesson design for today’s students
- Activities to promote 100% active student engagement
- Practical strategies which address a broad range of learning styles
- Techniques to maximize time in target language
- Outstanding classroom-tested strategies you can use immediately
- Current best practices to strengthen your program
Training can be as much as 30-40 hours. It can have various configurations.
- A full week of training
- A full day training or a series (weekly, monthly) of full day trainings.
- A single half day training or a series of half day trainings
- Weekly department collaboration/common-planning meetings
- This can be done on a school level or at the district level.
- Each of the above can be accompanied by classroom (individual) coaching.
