 School Partnerships

Site-based Staff Development for World Language Teachers, ELL Teachers, and ASL Teachers

IE STARS is expanding its professional development training for world language teachers, ELL teachers, and ASL teachers with a partnership program.

With the partnership program, a teacher trainer with the California Foreign Language Project can come to your school to provide teacher training and classroom coaching.  Training may include but is not limited to the following:

  1. Standards-based instruction – the NEW World Language Standards 2009
  2. Lesson design for today’s students
  3. Activities to promote 100% active student engagement
  4. Practical strategies which address a broad range of learning styles
  5. Techniques to maximize time in target language
  6. Outstanding classroom-tested strategies you can use immediately
  7. Current best practices to strengthen your program

Training can be as much as 30-40 hours.  It can have various configurations.

  1. A full week of training
  2. A full day training or a series (weekly, monthly) of full day trainings.
  3. A single half day training or a series of half day trainings
  4. Weekly department collaboration/common-planning meetings
  5. This can be done on a school level or at the district level.
  6. Each of the above can be accompanied by classroom (individual) coaching.
