In this activity we will be visiting web sites for movies that are playing in Germany.
1. List below the information would you expect to find in an ad for a movie theater.
2. Choose one of the movie web sites below.

3. Select a movie with a German title and write down the following information.

4. Now click on the title of the movie that you've chosen and write the following:

5. Did you find all of the information that you expected? Put a check mark beside each item in #1 above that you found. Put an X in front of each item you did not find.
6. List here words that are similar to words in English.
7. List here words that are not like English but that you understand by context.
8. List words that you don't understand.
9. Repeat #2-4 with three other movies

10. Now make your own ad in German for a movie. Be sure to include that name of the theater, address, telephone number, name of the movie, show times, director, actor, actresses.

1. Ask students to list what information they expect to find in an ad for a movie theater.
2. Ask student to share what information they expect to find.
3. Have students select a movie site and find the expected information in the ad.

4. To help students find expected information have students look for cognates.
5. Then have students look for meaning in context.
6. Ask students to list words they don't understand and think they need to know. Let students work with a partner to guess the meaning of words they need. Then discuss with class.

Have students make their own ad in German for a movie.
