Student Worksheet
Procedure:
Ask students what they expect to find
on an Italian web site that has to do with cultural festivities.
Explain quotation marks and + sign in search of something.
Ask students to share what information
they expect to find.
Have the students explore the sites on
the Italian city of Marostica and find the expected information
on the various sites.
To help students find the expected information,
have students look for English word cognates.
Then have students look for meaning in
context and using the pictures.
Ask for students to list words they don't
understand and think they need to know. Let students work with
a partner to figure out the meaning of words they need. Then
discuss these words with the whole class.
Have students list in order of preference
which features of this cultural event would most likely appeal
to them.
Of those features that appeal to them,
why they would make sure that they saw that particular thing.
Ask students how they might reach this
small town in Veneto. What would be the various means of transportation
starting with their airplane flight and ending with their walking
to the piazza from their hotel or pensione.

Have students make up a poster of an imagined
cultural festivity in Italy with a picture and writing. Give
